Bathroom Accessories In Lavender

Author: Anna Hart

Bathroom accessories can make or break a bathroom's decor. Bathroom accessories come in many styles. Bathroom accessories come in many colors. The careful shopper will take time to choose both the right style and the right color.

Bathroom accessories in lavender are an example. Lavender bathroom accessories can be had in a variety of styles and a variety of hues. You can find bathroom accessories in dainty lavender flowers on pristine white ceramic. You can find bathroom accessories in lavender wicker with chrome, brass, or bronze bases.

As you seek out bathroom accessories in lavender, you will want to ask yourself several questions. These will help you zero in on what you really want before you begin shopping.

1. Color: There are many shades of lavender. Visit a paint store and find the shade you wish to feature. Are you looking for lavender blue or lavender green? You may remember the old lullaby lyrics that begin with the words, "Lavender's blue, dilly dilly, lavender's green. When you are king, dilly dilly, I shall be queen." You may want to copy out the lyrics and frame them for your bathroom wall. Set a theme with them, and combine bathroom accessories in lavender blues and lavender greens.

2. Style: Do you want bathroom accessories in lavender flowers, or in abstract swirls? Do you prefer simple, clean lines, or more ornate designs? Do you enjoy retro purple lavender or watery, pearl lavender?

Think about the color of your walls and floor before you make decisions on your bathroom accessories. Remember the secret to ideal color combinations: the 60-30-10 rule. Use about 60 percent of one dominant color in your bath decor. Use 30 percent of a lesser color. Use only 10 percent of your accent color.

In this case, lavender bathroom accessories will probably comprise your ten percent of accent color. The lavender should go well with the dominant and lesser colors on walls, floors, and fixtures.

Bathroom Accessories in Lavender Flowers

If you prefer flowers, you might want to look for lavender/purple flowers such as the following on bathroom accessories.

1. Lavender itself - flowers from the herb
2. Lavender iris
3. Lavender and yellow pansies
4. Lavender wisteria
5. Lavender lupine

Other Bathroom Accessories in Lavender

Lavender bathroom accessories are available in more than just flowers.

Dragonflies are often depicted in lavender on shower curtains, toothbrush holders, soap dishes, dispensers, and other bathroom accessories.

Whimsical cherubs in lavender, gold, and white are featured in some bathroom accessories. In others, these colors appear on the gossamer gowns and wings of woodland fairies.

Plain lavender bathroom accessories are readily available. The color and style are simple and cooling. They blend well with most bath decors.

Towels and rugs in lavender should match or closely complement the hues used in your other bathroom accessories.

Budget Bathroom Accessories in Lavender

Your budget will go further if you shop garage sales and thrift stores for bathroom accessories in lavender shades. You might want to be creative by selecting objects such as a lavender tumbler or simple vase for a toothbrush holder. Add a lavender dessert dish to hold your soap.

Helpful Tip

When using bathroom accessories in lavender, include a lovely bouquet of dried lavender. Its cool color and relaxing aroma can quickly turn your bath into a luxury retreat.

Getting Started In Commercial Truck Driving

Author: Kris Koonar

For a great and steady career and good salary, consider a life long association with commercial truck driving. Did you know that trucks move to and fro the major part of goods and services in the U.S.? And the field is poised for excellent opportunities and is growing? But unfortunately, there is a dearth of trained drivers, yet to qualify themselves. This, in spite of the fact, that the future for drivers, who succeed in the profession, has never been so good. For getting started in commercial truck driving, you need to pay heed to the following:

. Your age: Depending upon the state you live in, some permit 18 year old to drive inside the state. Federal rules need drivers doing inter-state runs to age at least 21 years.
. Your health conditions: The Dept. of Transportation needs drivers to be physically tested each two years. A driver should not have lost any body part or have any other defects or illnesses that can interfere with driving safety. You should not have diabetes that needs taking insulin injections.
. Eye Sight: You need a minimum of 20/40 visions in your eyes. You can or cannot have correcting lenses and not to forget a 70 degree area of vision in both eyes. Color blindness is disallowed.
. A Hearing test will be given, where a whisper within five feet must be heard with a hearing aid or not.
. You must have a basic knowledge of English speaking and reading to understand all traffic instructions and speak with police officers and the general public. You also need to write reports.
. Drivers have to learn to follow the Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations.
. Drug and Alcohol abuse: There are four reasons, why police officials or your company can check for drug and alcohol abuse, which are 1) before employing you 2) after an accident 3) If they suspect you 4) Spot checking at any time. You should have no alcohol problem i.e. be diagnosed as an alcoholic. You must abstain from any form of drugs, which are not legal.
. Your driving history: You should not have a conviction of being involved in a felony using a motor vehicle, or a criminal offense after drug usage. Not having driven under the control of drugs or alcohol or have a conviction in a case of hit-and-run causing harm or fatalities.
. A Valid License: All truck drivers must possess a proper, valid commercial driver's license or CDL given by a State. You can possess a license issued by one State only.

TYPES OF TRUCK DRIVING

You should know and prepare for the kinds of trucks; you will be driving in this career. Briefly they are:

1) Longer distance driving or over the road. Here you'll drive heavy trucks and it is for a longer period. You'll do a couple hundred miles and come back the same day. Some drivers are needed to stay away for many days and even weeks.
2) Local Driving: Here you drive light, medium, or heavy trucks and do shorter routes or just pick and drop type of deliveries. This type of driver also needs to be a salesman.
3) Special truck driving: This driver handles rare, very heavy or goods of a sensitive nature and needs special training to handle this equipment. Also you do double or triple trailers and car transportation.
4) Dangerous Materials: More training is needed here in that you must know the content you're carrying, the safety factors, and handling an emergency.

Finally, you can also operate and own your truck and transport freight on a contract agreement. Gains are better, but it's a business and has its own pros and cons.

Types of Cookware and Things to Consider When Purchasing Cookware

Author: Bob Cummins

There are many types of cookware sets to choose from. There are all kinds of gourmet cookware sets hard anodized, stainless steel, enamel, non stick and cast iron just to name a few. The selection is so large that it could be overwhelming.

I consider myself somewhat of an amateur chef. I learned alot by watching many of the gourmet cooking shows that are on television. I also subscribe to several gourmet-cooking magazines. Plus it also helps when your bother in-law is professional chef.

I purchased my first gourmet cookware set many years ago. I bought this set because it was one of the most highly rated sets and very popular at that time. I also could use the cooking utensils that I already had. I didn’t have to worry about scratching it like you do with a non stick set. I figured this would be the only cookware I would ever need and I would just add to it as needed. However, over time, I found this not to be the case and this would not be the only set I would ever have.

I found that the best cookware to choose really depends on the dish or meal that you are going to prepare. As an example,if you’re preparing a low fat meal you would most likely use a non stick skillet to cut down on the amount of fat in the dishes you prepare. If you were making meals that started off with sautéing or browning first and then finished the cooking in the oven, I would use cookware that was oven safe and could go from the cooktop burner right into the oven. This also saves time on clean up because you’re using less pots and pans when you cook this way.

When grilling or preparing meals outdoors I prefer something very durable like cast iron. It is also my skillet of choice when making fried chicken. A lot of people would shy away from cast iron because it had to be pre-seasoned before you could being cooking with it. However nowadays many manufacturers of cast iron cookware sell it already pre-seasoned and ready to use. Cast iron is probably one of the oldest cookware sets around. Many grandmothers and great grandmothers had this type of cookware for a lifetime.

In Summary: After many years, it has been my experience that there really is no one “do all” set of cookware. In my opinion it really depends on the type of meal you are preparing and the type of cooking you are doing.

Seven Simple ways to Help The Environment and Your Wallet

Author: Juan Anselmo Borla

The world is a big place with big problems. Some environmental
activists demand we stop living our lives and look at everything
we do as an Earth-changing event, but not everyone can focus
their entire lives around saving the planet. The truth is that
it isn't necessary to make drastic changes in one's life to make
a difference. It isn't even necessary to spend more money to be
environmentally conscious. Below are seven simple ways to make a
difference in the environment, and save money doing it.

1. Buying compact fluorescent light bulbs instead of
incandescent ones. Advances in technology have led to a light
bulb that's designed to last up to 15 times the life of a
standard bulb. They cost more up front, but they are replaced
much less often, which makes them cheaper in the long run. Plus,
these bulbs will use less than a third of the power of
incandescents, which will reduce electricity costs. They also
generate less heat, so less air-conditioning is needed in the
summer.

2. Reusing shopping bags. Every bag reused is one less bag that
needs to be manufactured. Also, several supermarket chains have
started giving small credits towards their customers' bills when
they bring in old bags to reuse. Some people like to keep old
shopping bags in their trunk, just in case. Even more of an
improvement would be using non-disposable canvas bags - they
still count towards the credit at the check-out, but are made
from eco-friendly materials.

3. Carpooling. Most people associate carpooling with going to
work, but there are many other opportunities to share a ride. A
great deal of money could be saved on gasoline by one car going
to the mall rather than two. Also, with a little planning,
shopping trips could be taken less frequently.

4. Turning off the water when not in use. Simple things like
using half a sink full of water to wash dishes instead of
running the water can prevent waste. Turning the water off while
brushing your teeth is also a good idea. Finally, making sure
faucets aren't left dripping will make a significant difference
in water bills.

5. Completely turning off electronics. A great many of today's
appliances and electronics have a standby mode. Televisions and
stereos in particular tend to use a great deal of electricity
while on standby. Plugging devices into a power strip that has
an on/off switch can give consumers more control over their
electricity use. Particular attention should be paid to anything
with a big transformer plug, as these devices tend to use the
most power and waste the most money.

6. Turning off the air-conditioning and/or heat when leaving the
house. A great deal of electricity is wasted cooling or heating
an empty home, which leads to bigger bills. Even setting the
temperature one or two degrees different, keeping the system
from activating as often, can save significant amounts of money
each year.

7. Turning off the lights. A good rule of thumb is, "light is
useless if there's nobody there." Turning off any ceiling fans,
floor fans and lights when leaving the room saves just a little
bit of electricity, and money, every time it's done.

Of course, there are many more ways to help the environment
while saving money. These seven are simply among the most often
overlooked easy solutions. Public libraries and environmental
websites are great sources of further information

Good organization and planning is an essential part of most of today's office professions. While PDA's and BlackBerrys have made it a bit easier to keep track of everything, there's nothing like a planner that you can hang on the wall and glean information from with just a glance. A particularly good one is the Quartet Prestige Plus Magnetic DuraMax Porcelain Planning System. It is great for planning, keeping track of assignments, monitoring employees, and so on. Here is what this planner has to offer you.

  1. A porcelain surface. This planning system has a whiteboard surface that's made of DuraMax porcelin. You can use dry-erase markers on it and because it's a Total Erase surface, it will not ghost, stain, or become damaged. The porcelain is backed with steel so you can use this product as a magnetic bulletin board.
  2. Three different finishes. These planners have three different printed finishes so you can choose the one that fits your needs. If you need a grid, there are 1" x 1" and 2" x 1" grids you can select. And there's also a board printed with horizontal lines. All three of these imprints are easy to see and use.
  3. Easy cleaning. Due to this product's high-quality surface, it's extremely easy to clean. Be sure to use Quartet spray cleaner or wipes when it comes time to clean your board to protect its surface.
  4. Three sizes and great looks. This item comes in three different sizes: 6' x 4', 4' x 3', and 3' x 2'. That means these planners can fit in both the tiniest cubicles and the largest offices. And no matter what size you choose, your board will have a stylish frame with a graphite finish.
  5. Convenient storage for all of your supplies. Each one of these planners comes with an accesory tray. This tray enables you to keep your dry-erase markers, erasers, and other supplies handy.
  6. Markers and other supplies included! These planners all come with four dry-erase markers and an eraser so you won't have to go out and buy any supplies to start using yours. Also included are magnets, peel-and-stick letters, card holders, and cards you can use to fully customize your planner.
  7. Quick and easy installation. Installing your planner will be a no-brainer because it comes with Quartet's patented Easy Mount system. This system attaches the planner to the wall in several different places and ensures that installation will be quick and painless.

Finally, you can use a few of these boards to create your very own organizational system. Or, if you prefer, you can use your planner in conjunction with a Quartet calendar whiteboard so you can keep track of those important dates and assignments.

The Quartet Prestige Plus Magnetic DuraMax Porcelain Planning System is a must-have item if you need to get organized. By having one of these near your desk, you be able to stay on top of everything. Get one today and see how great it is to be organized.

Check Engine Lights: Myths And Facts

Author: Theodore Olson

You're driving along and suddenly your Check Engine Light comes on. What does it mean? Check Engine Light, Check Engine Soon Light, Service Engine Soon Light, Engine Light, Engine Management Light, "whatever" you want to call it, simply means that your vehicle's computer system has detected a problem.

Depending on the year, make, and model, it may be related to the engine, the transmission, even the brakes and suspension. There are literally hundreds of reasons a Check Engine Light may appear. The following questions and answers discussion will clarify the truth about Check Engine Lights...

Service Engine Soon Light FAQ:

1) Can the car be driven?

The general rule is: if the Service Engine Soon Light is on, and the car seems to be running ok, you can drive it. However, you should have it checked at your earliest convenience.

If your vehicle is running poorly—bucking, stalling, hesitating, or you just don't feel safe, tow it. When in doubt always tow it!

2) The check engine light went out by itself. Is it ok now?

Probably not. Check Engine Lights often come and go. Even if the light is out, your vehicle's computer system will retain information that will allow the problem to be diagnosed. To avoid potential long term issues, get it checked out.

3) My check engine light stays on. What should I do?

If your check engine light stays on constantly, follow the instructions above, under "Can the car be driven?" Don't panic.

4) Can I disconnect the battery, or pull a fuse to reset the service engine soon light?

Maybe, but I wouldn't. Removing the battery cable or an ECM or PCM fuse may clear the code, but it is not universally recommended in the industry. Most manufacturers advise against it. See the Best Way to Reset Check Engine Light Codes below.

5) What is the Check Engine Light?

The Check Engine Light is a warning light for multiple systems operating in your vehicle. In simplest terms, it's like an engine management warning light to alert you of a problem. Just like your computer pops up with an "error message window" saying that something's wrong, your service engine soon light pops up to warn you that it has detected a malfunction: mechanical, technical, software, or otherwise.

6) How to Reset Check Engine Light?

This is a great question! I get it all the time. See the guide below.

Resetting Check Engine Light:

First, if your Check Engine Light is on, it's on for a reason. The Check Engine Light indicates that your vehicle's on-board computers have stored a fault code. There are hundreds of fault codes, any one or more could be stored in the computers memory.

Fault codes are critical for accurate diagnoses of the problem.

Sometimes the fault code points directly to a faulty component, allowing for a quick diagnoses and repair. Other times, the code may only indicate a problem circuit and thus extensive diagnostic procedures may be required.

By resetting the Service Engine Soon Light, it erases important fault code data that turned the check engine light on in the first place. Without this critical information, the root problem can not be discerned.

Unfortunately, there is no "universally" accepted way to safely turn off a check engine light. Even if there was, if the root problem is not addressed, it will come back on.

So whether it's a Chevrolet Service Engine Soon Light, Camry Check Engine Light, Mighty Max Check Engine Light, or a 1993 Thunderbird Check Engine Light, they require individual procedures to diagnose, repair, and reset the check engine light code.

Following is a Safe and FREE way for resetting check engine light codes.

Best Way to Reset Check Engine Light Codes:

If you're not interested in diagnosing your truck, SUV or car Check Engine Light, or it's already fixed, and you just want the engine light out, visit any local repair shop. Most shops will have a universal Check Engine Light Code Reader that can quickly and safely reset, and check engine light trouble codes. It should take about 30 seconds.

Note: European models are better off with a specialist, and some older vehicles may require more time.

Here's what to do:

Politely ask your local service center (ask a technician if you see one) if they could reset the check engine light with their Check Engine Light Code Reader. They may protest, arguing that the problem must first be diagnosed.

Tell the service representative that you understand fully, and that you appreciate his professionalism. But that you would just like to try resetting the Service Engine Soon Light, and if it comes on again, you'll come back for a full diagnosis.

Be genuine. Service representatives respond positively to sincerity. If the service center wants to charge you just to reset your Service Engine Light, try another facility.

Alternatively, some parts store such as NAPA and AutoZone will reset your check engine light for free. Be wary of "diagnostic ideas" from parts representatives, however. Don't let them sell you any parts to "try" to fix the problem.

IMPORTANT, check engine light repairs can be quite costly given their technical nature. Service centers can easily hide behind complex technical language to inflate the difficulty of your Check Engine Light concern.

OBD1 Codes Secrets for Check Engine light

Author: Richard Trent

For vehicles made after 1996, retrieving the codes of the check engine light in your dash panel is simple. All you need to do is find your diagnostic connector located under the dash by the driver side. You can then hook up a scanner and the codes will be displayed for you. If you don't have any scanner like most drivers, you can bring your vehicle to any local automotive parts store and they will usually scan the codes FREE for you. However, for vehicles made on or before 1995, there is only one cheap way to get it: You do it yourself!

On board diagnostic (OBD) was designed on vehicles equipped with electronic fuel injection so you can generally retrieve the codes yourself. No need buying a scanner or running to any parts stores to check the engine light. This system is called obd1 and applies to most vehicles made before 1995 for domestics and 1993 on imports. In this article, I will discuss the methods used by domestic vehicle manufacturers on how to check the engine light codes in their cars and trucks.

For GM domestic vehicles made before 1995, the diagnostic connector is located under the dash panel by the driver side. To get the check engine codes to flash in your dash panel, use a jumper wire or a paper clip and connect terminals A and B of the diagnostic connector. Turn your ignition key on with engine off and the codes should start to blink. All codes should start with code 12 which is one long flash followed by 2 short flashes. This code 12 means the diagnostic system is normal and will repeat itself continuously if there are no trouble codes. Otherwise, code 12 will flash 3 times before flashing the fault codes.

Ford owners can check their check engine light using the diagnostic connector located at the engine compartment by the fender near the battery. Getting the obd1 codes need a couple of tools: a 4 inch long gage 16 jumper wire and a 12 volt test light.
Both tools are hooked up to the diagnostic connector and when the ignition key is turned on (without starting engine) the codes will begin to flash in the test light, not in the dash panel. If there is no code, you will normally get code 11 or 111. On Fords, there are 2 test modes, the KOEO (key on engine off) and the KOER (key on engine running). Both test modes should be used to get the accurate evaluation of the stored fault codes.

Of all the 3 domestic vehicles, the easiest method to check the engine light is Chrysler products. Why? Because all you need is to turn the ignition key on and off a within 5 seconds and the codes will start to flash in the dash panel.

Counting the codes being flashed is almost the same for these 3 domestic vehicles and most of the codes can be erased or cleared by disconnecting the battery negative terminal for 1 minute and reconnect. Just make sure to check your service manual in case you have electronic equipment such as radio or clock that needs reprogramming in which battery disconnection is not recommended. Finally after performing repairs on the culprit code, always go for a road test to confirm if the problem is fixed.

An Outdoor Cooking Grill Exhaust, To Keep the Smoke Out

Author: Kenny Vanderburen

The thing that is getting in the first position, as far as family activities are concerned, has to be cooking with the help of an outdoor grill. It's perfect for a family get together, everyone talking with each other while waiting for their food and watching how it is prepared. You can buy an grill in all sizes and price ranges, but you need to see if an exhaust system is needed.

It all depends on where it is placed and the what the wind direction is coming from most of the time, if you need to place an outdoor grill exhaust system or not. You don't want your clothes getting contaminated by the smoke, it can stick to them for a long time and you will need to wash or dry clean them.

You need an grill exhaust because:

1. You do not want the smoke from you outdoor grill getting in your home, sticking to your furniture, carpets and other things laying around. The smell of smoke from a grill can be very penetrating and is something that will linger around a lot longer than you will like. When an exhaust system is attached to your outdoor grill you ensure that the smoke is sucked up and can not get in your home.

2. People gathering around the grill to speak with the cook or just to see what is on the coal do not want the inconvenience of the smoke. When you are out in the garden to have a nice meal and you all gather around the cooking island you do not want to have to end your conversations because the smoke stops you from breathing normally and stinging you eyes.

3. The food you are cooking needs to be watched and that is not going to happen if you can't see it through the thick black smoke coming from the grill. Your guests will not think much of your cooking abilities when they are served under of overcooked food. And then there is also the health issue for the cook if he or she has to breath that smoke all the time while they cook the food.

Getting it on

Like with a lot of things in life you have a lot of choices when it comes to outdoor cooking grill exhaust systems. You can make it as expensive as you like. Maybe there is an exhaust that is specifically made for your model of grill. You will also find that there are models made to fit on more then one type of grill. Maybe the best thing to do is to ask a few people for advice, like the store where you bought the cooking device or the manufacturer.

Just remember that all this is for your safety and the people you invited to eat as it is for the protection of your personal belongings. To keep them free of (too much) smoke and to make the time together as enjoyable as possible. Eating outside with all your family and friends is nice way to pass the time.

Cold Air Intake Vs Short Ram Intake

Author: Redline Motive

Cold Air Intake vs Short Ram Intake
We get the question all the time - "What's the difference between a short ram intake and a cold air intake?". We'll explain it here quickly, and then go into more detail. Basically, a cold air intake is designed to keep the air filter outside of the engine bay and a short ram intake is designed to keep the air filter in the engine bay. So what does this mean? The short ram intake is cheaper, and typically produces less horsepower. The cold air intake produces more horsepower, but is generally more expensive. There are also different types of short ram intakes that we will explore.

Short Ram Intake
The typical short ram intake is designed with a few key points. First, it has to be easy to install, and typically only requires standard hand tools. Second, it has to increase horsepower while being a relatively inexpensive modification. A short ram intake is called a short ram because it literally is short. The pipe typically is only about 12 to 18 inches in length, and has an air filter on the end.

Short Ram Intake: Chambered Intake Kits
There are short ram intake kits such as the Weapon R Secret Weapon that offer special technology designed to improve air flow to the engine with technology and tricks that the manufacture claims can out perform a cold air intake. These intakes however are typically as expensive as a cold air intake, except you do not need an air bypass valve. The Weapon R Secret Weapon features a built in tube that increases suction and velocity so the manufacture claims increased performance gains over standard short ram intakes. This is a chambered intake kit. Another chambered intake kit that is very popular is the AEM V2 Intake.

Cold Air Intake
The cold air intake is designed to increase horsepower by relocating the air filter outside of the engine bay, typically putting it into the fender. Because the air filter goes into the fender, the cold air is harder to install, but as it's name implies, it allows the engine to take in cooler air, producing more horsepower. Because of the extra complexity of the cold air intake, it typically has higher cost over the compariable short ram intake. Another issue for some, is that the cold air intake could sit low, and suck up water when running over water puddles. This causes hydrolock, and destroys the motor. There are air bypass valves which fix this, but that adds about another $50 in cost to the cold air intake.

Benefits of a Kitchen Exhaust Fan

Author: David H. Urmann

The kitchen is one of the most common places of get together in many homes. It is a place to loosen up and bond with family and friends. Therefore, the kitchen should be cozy and convenient. But from all the warm images that the kitchen may present, there is something hidden that lingers, its pollution!

Kitchen can be the main source of pollutants in a home. Think all the grease, smoke, unwanted odors and moisture produced during cooking. Pollutants that stick to the walls, ceilings, carpets, furniture, and upholstery may require frequent cleaning and all the effort and expense it entails. But having an exhaust fan system will get rid all of these problems.

A good, reliable kitchen exhaust fan system is what you need especially if you are fond of cooking frying and broiling foods.
